Tips To Get Your RV Ready for the Road

RV Prep

There is no better way to see the country than loading up your family in your RV and hitting the road. To ensure that your RV is ready for its maiden voyage this spring, keep these RV spring preparation tips in mind.

  • Check the outside – taking a look around the entire exterior of your RV can alert you to any big issues you may have. Double check the caulking around all the doors and windows to make sure that it is not cracked. The smallest crack can be enough to let water into your rig.
  • Inspect the tires – look for any cracks on the sidewalls of your tires, as well as cracks between the treads. Cracks can mean serious danger on the road. Also, make sure that all the tires are inflated to the proper pressure.
  • Check the batteries – if you had taken the batteries out of your RV for winter storage, check to make sure that they still work. Clean off any terminals that are corroded with baking soda and hot water. Also, take a look at the battery fluid levels. If it has been a few years since you have replaced your batteries, it may be time to invest in new ones.
  • Clean the water system – completely flush out the entire water system to ensure there is no antifreeze left in it. After filling the tanks, check for leaks in the lines and faucets. Fix any small leaks to ensure that they do not turn into bigger, more expensive problems while you are on the road.

While inspecting your RV, you should also take the time to inspect your RV insurance policy to make sure that you have the right amount of coverage. Contact the insurance professionals at The Insurance Shop in White Bear Lake, Minnesota for all of your RV insurance needs for 2015.
